Hate Crimes in America essays
Hate Crimes in America essays Hate Crimes In America Did you know that people with blonde hair have low I.Q.s? Or that people less than five feet tall are more likely to spread a disease? How about that people with brown eyes are really worshipers of Satan? That did not sound very logical, did it? No, you know that people with blonde hair can be as smart or as unintelligent as the next person, that short people are not necessarily better hosts to disease, and that people with brown eyes can believe in whatever they want. Some people, on the other hand, would say these things made perfect sense when applied to a different race, religion, ethnic background, gender or sexual orientation. The idea of prejudice is as old as Mans time on Earth, that someone who is different just is not as good. When a person thinks like this, it can clutter their judgement. They start to see others, different from themselves, as not even human let alone equal. Violence often ensues. When that happens, we have a hate crime. A hate crime does not necessarily have to be a physical violent act. Words and threats can be just as damaging on an emotional level as a physical blow is to the head. Laws have been passed to prevent these actions, however, year in and year out there are hate crimes against different groups running into the thousands...and those are just the reported incidents. The most common variety of hate crimes is committed against the African American community. Acts of violence and hatred against Blacks have been seen throughout history. The earliest forms of hate groups often led these attacks, and groups of old are still present today, such as, the Aryan Nations, and the Ku Klux Klan (http://sociology.ucdavis.edu/classes/grattetHate_Crimes_Class_Site/Hate_Groups.html). Although not thriving as they had in olden times, these groups still exist and have strong followings in many different places. Today, because of their lack of pop...

The questionnaires help capture the ideas in a summary format. It also reduces the time that may be used to capture the ideas of each customer. The use of questionnaires is convenient because customers can answer the questionnaires at their own time. Confidentiality is maintained when questionnaires are applied to collect data from customers because the responses are not done to a particular person (Vaus, 2002). Information to be obtained from customers The questions are used t o get the overall satisfaction of the customers and the areas of improvement that the management should check. Customers provide information about the level of satisfaction they get from the restaurant. The questions will help identify the areas of weakness that the organization has as the areas where the organization is performing well (Hayes, 1998). The survey questions obtained from the customers can be used by the management to identify the image of the company from the external environment. The general perception of the people outside the organization can be identified by interacting with customers because they are in touch with other external people (Grigoroudis Siskos, 2009). Information about appropriate changes that can be implemented in the organization can be obtained by asking questions to the customers. Customers can provide ideas which can be included in the decision making process. Such ideas are very important when the restaurant will be developing products which ma tch the specific needs of the customers. As such, the company will be able to identify the appropriate customers to target and the plans to satisfy the needs of customers (Grigoroudis Siskos, 2009).Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? The questions will help identify the best motivational incentives to give to employees so that they can improve their interaction with customers. The information obtained from the customer survey will help prepare the budget for the restaurant in the subsequent financial years. The management should allocate more financial resources to the departments which have been identified by the customers to be pe rforming poorly (Knapp, 2009). Areas of weaknesses identified by the customer can be focused on by the management to improve the performance. The interaction between the management and employees is improved because the management is able to acquire better ideas of handling their workers. Employee satisfaction is improved because employees work better and are able to satisfy customers when they have a good relationship with the management. The questions also help determine new products to introduce to the organization. The taste, preferences and needs of customers is determined and this helps produce products according to the prevailing consumer needs. By applying this system the management is able to reduce losses made when the company manufactures products which may be irrelevant in the market. The application of the questions improves the communication between the management and customers and this helps solve conflicts between the two parties (Knapp, 2009). The Importance of Planning in Self-Publishing
The Importance of Planning in Self-Publishing Fiction writers are sometimes divided into ââ¬Å"plottersâ⬠and ââ¬Å"pantsersâ⬠depending on how much advance thought they put into the development of their novels. The ââ¬Å"plottersâ⬠like to work everything out in advance. They may develop elaborate outlines, timelines, character portraits, diagrams of pivot points in their story, and know, even before they strike the first key, exactly what the story is and how it will develop. ââ¬Å"Pantsersâ⬠get their name from ââ¬Å"flying What about self-publishers? They can also be divided in terms of how they approach the publication of their books. Consider: Planners As soon as a planner gets going, they have specific dates for all their events. An author may have booked the blogs on which sheââ¬â¢ll be appearing during her book launch several months away. She might locate vendors for the services sheââ¬â¢ll need, set up a publishing company, and get all her ââ¬Å"ducks in a row.â⬠Although all this preparation is impressive, planners may be driven Free Spirits Free spirits approach publishing with a less structured approach, and are more concerned with the task in front of them, not with future events. A free spirit author may be so absorbed Although it sounds slower, these authors may be more open to serendipitous meetings and spur of the moment inspiration. Although they dont get the benefits of advance planning, they may have more fun in the process. Questions Arise Most people think that a book is a simple, commonplace object - words on a page, one page after another until you reach the end. Whatââ¬â¢s complicated about that? But then, when you decide to publish yourself, the picture becomes murkier. You begin to realize there are many decisions that go into making a book. The questions start, and never seem to stop: à Hardcover, paperback, ebook? à How big a book? à Where to sell, and for how much? Then it gets even more confusing: à What should I do first? à How long will it take? à How do I stay on track? Planning to Succeed Many authors are also teachers, business people, retirees, consultants, electricians, military, lawyers, doctors, and so on. They have expertise in their own field, but they donââ¬â¢t know how book publishing works. They have no grasp of the whole book publishing process. Ideally, you could have an expert sitting next to you as you plan your project to explain all the steps and when to do them. Thats a great solution, and some authors end up hiring a book shepherd or publishing consultant. But only a few do that. Most try to figure it out Understanding the sequence of events in publishing a book should be your first task when you decide to self-publish. So if youre thinking of publishing your own books, educate yourself first. Nothing will repay you as much as getting clear in your mind about how the process of turning a manuscript into a book works in the real world. Youll soon be a publishing pro yourself! This will include the fact that the company will find it difficult to regulate and monitor the use of computers in the workplace as the employees would use only part of the policy for their own advantage. The company may also find it hard to enforce policies that would protect the company and at the same time the welfare of the employees (Brandeis & Warren, 2014). 3. A critical review and discussion of research based evidence relating to hand hygiene in community nursing hand washing versus the use of alcohol based hand gel - Essay Example The use of an alcohol-based hand gels is the next best option to soap and water. In fact, it is also highly recommended by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC 2003). Isopropyl and ethyl alcohol is proven to be effective in fighting against bacteria, tuberculosis, viruses, and fungi (Kozier 2004). In relation to hand washing, this paper will focus on discussion and the comparison of different research approaches in order to come up with evidences regarding the importance of hand washing in a community area, the use of an alcohol-based hand gels as an alternative to hand washing, and some of the health benefits that we could get from a simple hand washing with the use of either an ordinary or anti-bacterial soap. The four (4) research studies that I have included in this paper all ended up with the evidence that a simple hand washing with either an ordinary or an anti-bacterial soap and the maintenance of short and clean nails can help us stay in good health and free from a long list of infectious diseases such as upper respiratory diseases like colds and flu, and a mortality causing diseases like diarrhoea. In my research, I have included the importance of hand washing. Every nurse should know the exact reason why hand washing is very important in our chosen career. In line with this, we must have to be knowledgeable of the proper way of hand washing and the use of the alcohol-based hand gels. For this reason, I also have included the guidelines on hand washing and the use of the alcohol-based hand gels. There are four (4) research studies in this paper. Two (2) are evidenced-based practice showing that hand washing can prevent and minimize infectious diseases like colds and flu and diarrhoea. The third study will show that the use of the alcohol-based hand gels will increase the rate of hand washing compliance due to the convenience that comes with from using it. The last study proves that long nails could

Compare and Contrast - Research Paper Example This paper is a comparison of two Islamic arts: The Great Mosque of Cordoba in Spain and the Mamluk Glass Oil Lamp. Enameled as well as gilded glass lamps were custom-made in big numbers for most Cairo built mosques by Mamluk Sultans as well as their Amirs. Lamp donation was contemplated as respectful act towards God. Such an act connects to a Koran text that explains that God is the Heavenââ¬â¢s as well as Earthââ¬â¢s light. This verse explains further that the light of God happens to resemble a niche within which one can find a lamp. This lamp is glass made while the glass resembles a brilliant star. The Mosque lamp also is decorated using bold encryption frieze that contains Sayf al-Din Shaykhu al-Nasiriââ¬â¢s names as well as title, also his heraldic device that joins a red cap is situated at the roundels center on the neck as well as the lampââ¬â¢s underside.
